God Will Provide
By Johnny Angel
Dear friends,
Today, I would simply like to share a real life experience that I had this
week. On Monday, I finished working with the second graders at one
of the schools I am assigned to. I had to get back to study for an
exam, but I was hungry. I was also about out of gas. So I stopped to
fill up with gas. It took most of my money. I was going to go by the
ATM machine to get more money so I could buy dinner. But I got
caught in traffic and forgot to stop and get the money. When I got the
Ryans for the mega bar buffet, I made it to the cash register without
realizing I didn't have enough money. Suddenly, I remember and
frantically tried to explain the situation to the cashier. I asked if I could
just leave my tray there and run to the ATM. She paused and asked
how much I had. I showed her. It was almost $2 short. She said that
she knew I came in there all the time so they would just give me a
discount for being a frequent customer. This made a huge impression
on me. God has told us to look at the birds and the flowers. They are
so well-clothed and always have the food they need. Yet they do not
worry. They know that God will provide. Jesus has said that we are
even more important than the birds and the flowers. He will provide for
us. We must simply trust Him. Instead, we constantly worry about how
things are going to work out.
I am not suggesting that we all go to Ryans without enough money to
buy what we order. I certainly feel that God expects us to prepare for
situations and to be responsible. But there are times when we fall short
of the goal, despite our best efforts. There are times when we simply
don't know how things are going to work out. Yet, God is there with us
taking care of our every need if we will just allow Him to.
N Prayer,
