The Weddding Feast
By Gerald S. Sumeracki
The music played, the wine flowed free
On that great wedding day
The guests enjoyed each others speech
Great joy---for none to pay!
The steward of the feast's concern
That wine had ceased to be
Caused Mary, friend of those now wed
To seek her Son to see.
When found she Him she told Him true
"They have no more of wine"
"What would you have me do," He said
"For it is not my time."
She smiled at Him then waiters told
"Do what He'd have you do
"For guests must all be happy
At the wedding of a Jew!"
"Those empty jars with water fill"
Christ told those called to aid
"Then take them to the steward
For his use of what I"ve made."
The steward did not know from where
Arrived this blend on time
He praised the host for keeping last
The best of vintage wine.
