Child of Wisdom
By Gerald Sumeracki
The feast days now had all been kept
So left they for their land
They journeyed far before they knew
Their son was not at hand.
A look throughout the caravan
Revealed he was not there
So back they ran with great concern
To search with parents care.
They looked until they found their child
Among those in the halls
Exchanging thoughts and words with priests
Within the temple walls.
"His wisdom far exceeds his age"
Said those who'd heard His words
"We marvel at his speech and thought
"Like him we've never heard!"
"Why have you done us so dear son
"We worried for your life"
Said He "My Fathers' work I do
"This should not cause you strife."
These words were strange from one so young
Whatever did He mean
And so the lad went with them home
Much later He'd be seen.
Seen as Jesus Son of God
The man who to this day
The one of God sent from above
To show salvations way.
