Rust to Dust
By Gerald Sumeracki
People people everywhere,
Scurry to and fro,
Wonder what they're rushing for,
Wonder if they know.
Seems they all have little time,
They care not ere to stop,
Seems the only wish they have,
Is to reach the top.
They scratch and paw and step upon
Their neighbors on their way,
It matters not as wealth they gain
That others had to pay.
To be secure and warm and full
Of riches won in life,
It seems their goal is lots of gold,
Avoiding costly strife.
I wonder if they'll ever look
Beyond their world of rust,
And learn what life is all about,
Before they turn to dust.
