Progress
By Gerald Sumeracki
There was a time, I know it's true
When earth and sky were pure
When man and beast could breathe clean air
Of this you can be sure.
But eons past
And man progressed in wisdom and in greed
His vain and gluttonous way of life
In nature brought forth need.
The need for air that's void of soot
And poisons from man,s waste
The need for water lacking slime
And land that's not defaced.
The need for room To grow and live
The need for those who'd care
The need for peace in world and mind
All wonders now so rare.
