Moses
By Gerald Sumeracki
In times of old we've all been told,
Old Moses climbed a crest,
In silence there he heard God's voice,
Thus he was heaven blest.
"What name have you" he asked the Lord,
"So I can tell them now."
"I Am Who Am," came the reply,
"Before me all must bow."
And now God's chosen had His name,
"I Am" their worshiped love,
Throughout the eons that did pass,
He'd bless them from above.
Then came a man of special grace,
Into their midst one day,
He worked such signs that many said,
"Through Him must be the Way."
But in their quest for worldly might,
Abram's line was claimed,
"Before he was, I Am!" Christ said,
And therein He was blamed.
"Blasphemy!" was the shouted cry,
"Kill Him!" was their plea,
"For what great good or deed" He asked,
"Would you do this to me?"
"Not for the good but for the name,
"You claim to be the One,
"Yes,I am He, by signs I've shown,
"I'm God's true living Son."
"Prove you are God!" they all did ask,
"With signs that we can see!"
"Through you saw wonders every day,
"Your souls stayed far from Me."
"Yet I will conquer all man's fears
"And for their sins I'll die!"
And did He thus as He did say,
When crucified He cried---
"Father forgive them,
"They know not what they do."
Then in a tomb He lay three days,
To rise to life anew.
And through His rising from the dead,
God's new Way had appeared,
The Way the Truth and Light had come,
To wipe away death's fears.
Christ lives in life eternal now,
Within the Holy "One,"
Awaiting time to come again,
As God's anointed Son.
And when that day does surely come,
And it approaches fast,
The earth will sing with shouts of joy,
Praise Jesus, come at last!
